Horror Legends is an asymmetrical player versus player (PVP) action that lets you play as a supernatural monster or a scrappy cast member. This October Games project pits one horror “Legend” against multiple “Cast” members in a game reminiscent of slasher films like Hellraiser or Friday the 13th.

Simply put, Horror Legends is a more gory, almost cartoonish version of Dead by Daylight or Evolve Stage 2. What sets this game apart is that villains basically set the objectives for the entire round. Also, while this is a paid game, players can test it out through the free Demo Version.

Survive or be a Legend

One unique feature of Horror Legends is that each Legend has unique powers and properties that set the tone of the entire game. Aside from the number of players or the stage, the Legend that Cast members are up against also adds to the unique experience in every game. Some legends can spawn pools that regenerate health while some can summon deceased Cast members to work as their underling.

Its environment designs also help bring that slasher feel to life. From abandoned farmhouses, rows of disposed cars, to eerie forests, the stages are well thought out and also help mix the gameplay up. There are randomly generated elements that could serve as an advantage or disadvantage to either side, it’s up to the players to make these unique factors work toward their favor.

There’s a full comic book you can unlock, in addition to cosmetic items that can be bought with earnable in-game currency. With its wealth of character and load-out skins and other bonus content, the game has dozens of hours of gameplay in store. The only issue in the game is its matchmaking lobby, which has difficulty finding other online players for solo gamers.

Challenging horror experience

If you have friends to play with, you can easily work around the only problem with Horror Legends: public matchmaking. With its impressive premise, a unique and cartoonish design choice, and the gameplay mechanics for both sides, this game is a definite must-try, horror genre fan or not.
